My Approach
What sets Mid-Island Speech Language Pathology, PLLC, apart from the rest is that we provide personalized, functional, evidence based therapy in the comfort and convenience of your home. This environment is not only convenient, it also offers the additional benefit of being in a person's natural environment, often decreasing anxiety for the patient. This allows for more functional therapy incorporating activities of daily living.

It all starts with your evaluation. I provide thorough assessments, looking at the person as a whole. Then we will work together to establish functional goals. I work with my patients, their families, and their healthcare providers to ensure that all of your communication and swallowing needs are met. In addition to traditional evidence based therapy approaches, I am also certified in LSVT LOUD TM, The Guardian Way NMES and sEMG treatment protocol for swallowing, and I am trained in PROMPT.
LSVT LOUD TM
Lee Silverman Voice Therapy (LOUD) is a treatment protocol for the treatment of speech and voice disorders associated with Parkinson's Disease. This treatment protocol has been researched for over 20 years and has been shown to have long term benefit for participants. It is an intensive exercise program that focuses on being "louder" and using more effort to improve their speech and voice. Although it is primarily used for treatment of communication disorders associated with Parkinson's Disease, it has also been shown in research to improve speech disorders associated with other disorders as well.

NMES
